Meet Bill Hennessey, Chair of The Vanguard School and Services’ Board of Trustees — and proud Vanguard parent. For Bill, Vanguard’s mission is deeply personal. His daughter, Maura, attended Vanguard from third grade through graduation, and he credits the school’s compassionate staff and supportive environment with helping her thrive.  “One of my favorite memories is touring Vanguard for the first time,” Bill shared. “A student started talking to Maura, then other students joined in. On the ride home, she insisted this was where she wanted to go. That made a difficult decision much easier for us.”

Now completing his ninth year as a trustee, Bill remains passionate about helping students and adults with disabilities achieve their fullest potential. He’s especially excited about Vanguard’s growing focus on transition and adult services — supporting individuals not only during their school years, but throughout adulthood. When asked to describe Vanguard in one word, Bill didn’t hesitate: “Caring — because I see it every time I’m on campus.”
