The Vanguard School and Services Welcomes Susan Childs to its Board of Trustees

Malvern, PA — The Vanguard School and Services (VSS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan Childs to its Board of Trustees. A seasoned business strategist, executive coach, and organizational consultant, Childs brings decades of experience guiding organizations through transformation, leadership development, and strategic workforce planning.
Childs is the Founder and Principal Managing Partner of LCA Consulting & Business Services LLC, where she advises C-suite leaders and management teams across industries—including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, government, and technology—on workforce design, organizational effectiveness, and leadership development. Since relaunching her consultancy in 2020, the firm has expanded significantly, growing both its client base and revenue while supporting organizations such as Merck, Eli Lilly, Kyowa Kirin, Incyte, Cellino Biotech, and the Governor’s Office of Delaware.
Throughout her career, Childs has held senior human resources leadership roles at global organizations including Takeda, MedImmune, AstraZeneca, and HSBC. Her work has focused on talent optimization, mergers and acquisitions integration, global mobility programs, and large-scale organizational change. She is widely recognized for her ability to translate complex business challenges into practical strategies that strengthen both organizations and the individuals within them.
In addition to her consulting work, Childs contributes to academic and leadership development initiatives. She serves as a guest lecturer and fellow advisor for the Texas Medical Center’s Entrepreneur-In-Training program, where she leads sessions on ethics, engagement, and entrepreneurship. She also designs and facilitates global leadership workshops that support organizations navigating change, workforce engagement, and strategic growth.
Childs said she was drawn to The Vanguard School and Services because of its mission and strong organizational foundation.
“Vanguard has built an impressive infrastructure around its mission of supporting individuals with disabilities and helping them thrive in their communities,” said Childs. “I’m excited to contribute to an organization that is so clearly committed to long-term impact. I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue ensuring that strategy and decision-making always reflect the people we serve.”
In addition to her professional work, Childs has long been engaged in community leadership and nonprofit governance. She has served on the boards of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, Healthworks Academies, and the Delaware State Racial Justice Commission, where she has helped guide initiatives focused on equity, professional development, and community advancement.
Childs holds an MBA from the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business at Post University and a BBA from George Washington University. She also completed executive studies at Harvard Business School and holds certifications in global culture systems, leadership competency frameworks, and workforce compliance.
“We are thrilled to welcome Susan to our Board of Trustees,” said Tom Quinn, Executive Director of The Vanguard School and Services. “Her experience in leadership development, and organizational strategy will be a tremendous asset as we continue to strengthen and expand the services we provide to individuals and families.”
