Child Development Services
Thank you for visiting Child Development Services
VFES offers professional child development services for families, schools and community organizations. Child Development Consulting was created out of the need for developmental specialists who can effectively share their expertise with families, staff and teachers with the goal of supporting a child’s success across learning environments.
A referral to a developmental specialist is often sought when there is concern about the development of a child. This may include what to expect at particular developmental stages or what special services your child may benefit from in addition to his/her existing program. A developmental consultant provides families and staff with encouragement and with recommendations they can incorporate into their daily activities.
VFES Child Development Services offers:
Community Outreach Consulting provides onsite support and training designed to meet the specific needs of the school or organization. Our Developmental Consultant may be used:
- To provide in-service training on developmental issues such as early child development, readiness skills for reading, social skill development, motor development and sensory processing concerns that may affect behavior.
- To gain an objective and independent opinion about a program challenge or situation.
- To assess a classroom situation or program in order to offer recommendations for program development and implementation
- To observe a child across environments in order to identify cause(s) of problems and to prescribe appropriate and practical learning strategies,
- To support children at risk through indirect interventions by collaborating with staff and/or adjusting classroom routines or programs.
Family Consulting: VFES will offer families consultation services to assist in understanding developmental concerns and home or school issues. Our child development consultant will collaborate with the family in developing educational and therapeutic programs and plans which will include the review and explanation of current and previous evaluation/therapy reports. A unique feature of having access to a developmental consultant is the option of continuity – having a professional who understands your child and who can be a resource and support to you over his/her critical developmental years whenever you have a concern or the need for guidance.
Direct Services: If further services are needed in the area of an Occupational and Speech Therapy Evaluation and/or direct therapy, VFES can provide that during after school hours in our state of the art facility in Paoli. Services are family centered with the goal of facilitating success in motor, sensory and social skills for learning, play and self-care tasks. Activities are provided that can be incorporated into the life of the child’s family. New for the spring and summer are school readiness groups, social thinking groups and afternoon clubs for elementary age students.
